Caving in the Vercors

Caving is one of the most renowned activity in the Vercors. It can be done from the age of 6 years old. We offer all levels of caving, from introduction courses to expert ones.

Horizontal caving: it is done in the beginner-friendly caves, there is no need for using ropes.

Half-day: The Goules verses, the True, The Grotte de l’Araignée (spider cave), the Grotte au Gour, the Grotte Roche. Full-day: The Fournier and the Sassenage Cuves

Vertical caving: this activity takes place in caves with a few shafts to descend (and sometimes to climb back up!) using ropes and harnesses.

The caves: the Eymards, the Trou Qui Souffle, the Gour Fumant, Orthovox,…

Qualified cave instructors will guide you through the underground wonders, from fossil networks to labyrinths carved by subterranean rivers and lakes. Let yourself be enchanted by the slow work of time — stalactites, stalagmites, and columns. We selected spots suitable for families and groups (corporate, schools,… ). For the more experienced cavers, we also offer more technical caves, such as the famous Dent de Crolles Traverse — a must for every cave enthusiast!
